Seeds of the end times
None of the predictions of the world’s end came true in 2011, and depending on your worldview, 2012 looks pretty good, too.
But, at the end of the year, I can’t help but think of the end times. (Maybe I’ve been watching too much Walking Dead.)
So, here’s a video of Mike Rowe working with the Chicago Botanic Garden’s on its Doomsday Seed Bank project.
Have a happy new year, and, if we’re all still here Jan. 1, I’ll see you in 2012.
Who doesn’t like veterans?
Starting this week, Cub Cadet will donate one dollar to GreenCare for Troops for every new fan who likes their Facebook page.
GreenCare for Troops is a nation-wide program coordinated by Project EverGreen that arranges free landscaping services for families with military members serving overseas. Since it started in 2006, GreenCare for Troops has helped more than 10,000 families.
Cub Cadet’s goal is $25,000. So head over to their page and help out. Or, if you’re feeling particularly big-hearted, sign up to volunteer to help out military families in your community.
Job opening
Always wanted to be on TV? Have a knack for talking with your hands? QVC wants you!
From ASLA’s website comes a job post for a garden and plant expert for “on air sales opportunities.”
QVC, America’s largest multimedia retailer, is currently in search of garden and plant experts for on-air sales opportunities. Experts should be in the New York, Philadelphia, or Baltimore/D.C. area and be willing and able to travel to suburban Philadelphia with sometimes very short notice.
